Artist Bio

Working as a professional artist blacksmith since 1993 David Robertson has created works that can be found in private collections in North America as well as Ireland and Germany. David has created sculptural pieces as well as functional artistic knives and hardware and museum reproductions. A graduate of Waterloo University's engineering program, David often relies on his engineering background in the construction of larger work.

A major theme in his work is the use of organic motifs in the ironwork. These often include elaborate flowers, leaves, vines and twigs.

David was honored when he was recently asked to demonstrate at Rochester Arc and Flame Center, and Southern Ohio Forge and Anvil's Quadstate blacksmith round up.

Blacksmith Classes

Since 1993 I have offered blacksmithing classes at my workshop in southern Bruce county. These classes range from Basic and Intermediate Blacksmithing to specialty courses such as Knife Making and Damascus or Pattern Welding as well as Organic Motifs in Blacksmithing. For a full and current listing of what I am teaching see my Ontario Blacksmithing Classes page on my main website.

The classes have a maximum of 4 students and are an intensive 18 hours of hands on instruction / supervision. Each student has their own work station but share a forge and larger equipment such as the air hammer. Courses are offered through out the year.
