A workshop with Takayoshi Komine

All scheduled events take place at Sharpe’s Creek Forge unless otherwise stated.
All times are approximate, although we will do our best to follow the agenda as presented below.

Thursday, July, 13/06

11:00 am. --- Workshop officially opens. All participants are issued their registration package.

12:00 pm --- Takayoshi will begin a demonstration of some sort. Details of his project were not available at press time. I am sure it will be a learning experience.

4:00 pm --- Dinner break. Join us for hamburgers and hotdogs, or have dinner on your own. Be sure to make it back in time for the slide show!!!!

6:30 pm ---There will be a slide show of Takayoshi’s previous work. If you have some slides you would like to show, please feel free to share them with us at this time.

9:00 pm --- Enjoy the sunset!!!

Friday, July, 14/06

9:30 am --- Workshop begins.

There will be four (4) forging stations set up for your participation. We will all take part in forging the components necessary for the benches.
You may be asked to swing a sledge hammer, hold a punch, or tend a fire. We may have to make drifts, or drill holes, or cut material as required.
You will also be given a chance to run the air hammer, if you feel you are able.
This work will be done under the direction of Takayoshi as he makes “his” bench and we make “ours”.

4:00 pm ---Dinner break. If everything has gone according to schedule the “blacksmith stew” should be ready for consumption at this time. Don’t forget your chopped veggies and/or meat for the stew. Approx. 1 lb. per person diced into 1” cubes please!!!

6:30 pm --- Forging contest. We will have a competition set up that will allow you to showcase your talents. (Or lack thereof ).

9:00 pm ---Enjoy the sunset!!!

Saturday, July, 15/06

9:30 am --- Repeat of Friday. Finishing and assembling, of all the components, as we complete the benches.

6:30 pm --- Closing ceremony at the Bedford Hotel in downtown Goderich. You will have a choice of a chicken or beef dinner at a cost of $20.00 per person. Cash bar . We will award prizes from the forging contest and say farewell to Takayoshi.
